A few Thank you's: 1. To everyone who donated something and cooked food for our Cold Plate sale, we THANK YOU. 2. We would like to take this opportunity to say a GIGANTIC THANK YOU to all the ladies who called around for orders, who helped cut out our cold plates, deliver them and clean up. 3. We would also like to say a very BIG THANK YOU to everyone who bought them and showed their support. Especially those of you that may not have gotten any ham, that was our mistake and we are sorry. The ladies cut out around 850 plates and every last one of them sold. The total amount raised will be counted tomorrow but it looks like it will be close to another $4000 for the playground. AWESOME, just AWESOME. As always, we really appreciate your continued support. A reminder to check back tomorrow as we will be drawing for the Hand stitched quilt.
Thank you, all.

Another successful Fundraiser
The weather may not have been as springy as we would have hope but the residents of La Scie and surrounding communities certainly showed their support during our BBQ fundraiser this past Friday. The volunteers worked extremely hard and cooked a delicious meal of hot dogs, hamburgers and homemade fries. We would like to take this opportunity to say a very BIG THANK YOU to all the ladies and gentlemen that helped out. We would also like to thank the students who came and helped with the Toll Booth, they brought in $479. Awesome support! Another thank you to Gene and Cindy Gray who provided us with their building for the event, you kindness is greatly appreciated.
To everyone who donated supplies for this BBQ, we thank you. Without the support of of communities we are not able to do this.
Below are just two of the reason we started this project.

Penny Drive
Dear Cape John Collegiate and Hillside Elementary Families, Students & Staff:
La Scie Playground Committee Needs Your Pennies!!!
Hillside Elementary Staff and Students are challenging Cape John Collegiate Staff and Students to Penny Drive! A large water bottle (or as many as needed) will be placed at the office of both schools where you can drop your pennies off. We'll do the rolling!!
Have pennies lying around? In your pockets? In your glove compartment? Underneath your sofa cushions? Start collecting your pennies to help us raise money to build our playground that the students chose. Remember, donating pennies turns cents into dollars!
We believe in the power of "change." Any "change" you wish to send along will be graciously accepted, pennies or other. Let's get rolling and see which school collects the most pennies!
In addition, we send this challenge out to the general public to help us out with this endeavor. Any spare pennies or change you have would be greatly appreciated to help us reach our goal and get our playground built.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
La Scie Playground Committee

1st Build of 2012 for LTBK
Tonight is probably a night of little sleep for the folks of Providence Bay, Ontario as they anxiously await their Build Day tomorrow morning. How exciting for them, and for us to be able to watch it unfold. Thank God for technology. We would like to say congratulations to the Providence Bay committee and wish them a wonderful day building their dream.
I just saw that we are down to 49 days,8 hours,26 minutes and counting and I am very excited and nervous at the same time.I really hope that we can build the playground and fitness park that the students of Hillside and Cape John Collegiate chose. We started a Penny Drive today, challenging the High school students to a race to fill up a water container with pennies. We hope that Hillside will cross the finish line first but CJC is up to the challenge. We believe in the power of "change!"
We are rolling right along with our fundraising efforts. Currently we are selling tickets on an hand-stitched quilt made and donated by Dororthy Foster, a wonderful friend of the Playground Project. The ticket draw will be just in time for Mother's Day.If you are interested in purchasing a ticket, please contact either one of the committee members.
As always, we thank you in advance for your continued support. Don't forget to check out Providence Bay Build Day tomorrow by going to www.ltbk.ca.
